From puzzles to garment

If you follow me on the gram (if you don't you really should... @talisaalmonte) you'd know I've been working on a cropped leather jacket completely made out of scraps of left over leather (both real and fake).

This badboy....

Something you don't see often with fashion, is the process behind what goes into creating a garment. I'd like to change that by sharing with you all some of my process when creating new Outerwear pieces you see on my site.

I made a basic shape for what I wanted the jacket to fit like and started placing scraps of leather on top until I filled the entire space so I'd know I had enough to create the entire body of the jacket.

This is what I got to once I had sewn all the pieces together for the body of the jacket. At this stage I actually considered making it a vest, but It turned out I had enough scraps to make the sleeves so I knixed the idea.

In an effort to be a little more sustainable and really think about how excess fabrics can affect the environment, I thought it would be fun to experiment with creating a garment entirely out of pieces of fabric I'd been hoarding for years.  (if you have any left over materials from whatever projects you might be working on, I challenge you to try and create something new with it and if not I'd be more than willing to receive any left over fabrics - feel free to contact me
